Directors
Heather Fraill
Heather’s passion for social change was sparked at a young age from her personal experiences as a young carer, supporting her mum with severe mental health and alcohol issues.
Heather has had a varied professional background ranging from personal assistant, community broker and currently works as a carer support worker.
Heather lives in Perth and Kinross with her three children and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family. Heather qualified in the Community Brokerage Award in 2020.
Heather is passionate about equality and helping people.
Sharron Farrell
Sharron is Carer Engagement Lead for North Lanarkshire Carers Together. Sharron has academic qualifications and third sector career background and has a personal experience and interest in autistic people and autism issues.
Following her completion of the community brokerage award in 2023, Sharron was recruited to our board of directors who were all keen to add her unique abilities and perspective to our collective skillset. She lives in the Glasgow area with her family.
Steven Leach
Steven’s background is in the dramatic and creative arts. He has lived experience as a carer for his late mother and Steven currently supports his teenage son in his day-to-day activities.
Steven completed the community brokerage award and was afterwards invited to become a director of the ABC of P. Steven brings with him both creativity and a great sense of humour. He is currently working on developing a series of broker role play scripts to complement ongoing work on a community broker handbook.
Karen Procek
Karen describes herself as a relentless changemaker with over 20 years’ experience in the voluntary sector. Known for her clear communication and commitment to centring lived and loved experience, she completed the Community Brokerage Award in 2025, further strengthening her focus on supporting people to shape their own lives.
Her most important role is being Mum to her two boys, especially acting as Rory’s “Dream Translator,” helping him live life exactly as he chooses (which would currently be watching trams and trains all day and plenty of macaroni cheese!). Her family inspires her drive to build a Scotland where everyone’s dreams are understood and supported.
Dawn Ranson
Dawn has worked within social care settings across 4 different Local Authority Social Work Departments both in England and Scotland in her 30-year career including roles in training and as a Community Care Worker / Local Area Coordinator.
Dawn’s passion is self-directed support, and she participated in the SDS Pilot for Aberdeenshire Council Pathway Team as a member of the Care Management Team. In her project coordinator role at a local charity, Dawn delivered Strike Out SDS Support Planning course training for people in groups. Dawn is one of the tutors for the Community Brokerage Award.
Lisa Ranson
Lisa has a background working within the private, public and third sectors including the NHS, in administrative, secretarial and project coordination roles. She currently works part-time as a virtual personal assistant for her small business and as an independent community broker helping young people to think, plan and act to make positive changes in their lives. She gained Community Brokerage Award in 2020.
As an intern working within the Open University WELS/FASS, Lisa supported the successful development of a large scale student survey researching advance tutorial information for neurodivergent students. She assisted with the research process including the submission of applications for relevant ethics and student research panels. As part of the project team, she developed a bespoke survey for a first year student sample, analysing and reporting on quantitative and qualitative findings.
Lisa also participated in the OU EDI 25 – 26 mentor/mentee programme.
Lisa is soon to enter her final year of study for a BA (Hons) Degree in Social Sciences (Psychology).
